Political Career and Professional Activity

1964: Began career as reporter and journalist

1967–1991: Columnist for Sunday Express; later contributed as a freelance writer, including for Daily Mail

1992–1997: Elected Member of the UK House of Commons for the Sutton and Cheam constituency (9 April 1992 – 8 April 1997)

During her parliamentary tenure, she participated in committees focused on procedures, healthcare, Northern Ireland, defense, and foreign policy, and served as secretary for several Conservative parliamentary groups. In 1996–1997, she served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for Northern Ireland.

She sponsored several Private Members’ Bills, including legislation on the return of prisoners to custody and regulation of dangerous weapons.

After her parliamentary career, Lady Olga Maitland continued professional work in international business and defense policy, holding executive and advisory roles in organizations involved in business development, financial transfers, and international cooperation.
